White men who write have historically never worried that they shouldn’t, that they should keep their ‘real’ job. You work so hard as a writer, and the worries are normal, but a good way to hold onto to your sense of what you’re doing and why it’s right for you is to look at the thousands of books on the shelves written by people who had the privilege of not sharing your worries and doubts. They wrote because they wanted to, and most had a safety net like what you described. And your stories sound like they’re will have more to offer the world about fighting and struggling and working for something. I hope to read ’em.
